IDS Logistik entered in the logistics and freight forwarding business in 1982. IDS provided its tracking solution to check the shipment status. Initially, its name was the Association of Freight Forwarders. Its cargo network delivers logistics services of high quality throughout Germany and Europe. Over the years, it has progressed relentlessly with the adoption of technology. Barcode scanning technology was introduced in 1994. IDS Express service was launched in 1995 with a bunch of 37 partners.
In 1996, the delivery scanner was introduced in IDS Logistik for shipment tracking from collection to delivery. The network was extended to 40 depots. In 2005, all Its vehicles were equipped with mobile data collection devices. Customers can use the Track partner option to select the nearest IDS depot. Customers also get access to electronic data exchange for manual data recording. There is an automated flow of information along the supply chain.
IDS Logistik celebrated silver jubilee in 2007 with the introduction of IDS High value for safe transport processing of high-quality goods. In 2018, IDS Logistik was honored with the Winner of Digital Champion Award South of Wirtschaftswoche.
